Summary of Position:
The Payroll Intern is responsible for assisting with all functions related to the administration of payroll for instructors and liaisons for summer programs. The Payroll Intern will assist with auditing timesheets and timesheet reports before payroll processing.

About Us: After School Matters is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that annually offers after-school and summer programs to nearly 19,000 Chicago high school teens to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills that will set them up for success in college and beyond.
ASM has engaged more than 400,000 Chicago teens and is the nation’s largest and most successful provider of after-school and summer programs for high school teens.
ASM offers paid apprenticeships led by professionals in the fields of arts, communications and leadership, sports, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Programs take place at community locations throughout the city, including three ASM buildings: downtown at Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, the Michael and Karyn Lutz Center in Belmont Cragin, and the Pullman community at Gately Park. Currently, After School Matters’ annual operating budget is approximately $35M and employs approximately 500 staff across the organization.

The Payroll Intern is responsible for assisting with all functions related to the administration of payroll for instructors and liaisons for summer programs. The Payroll Intern will assist with auditing timesheets and timesheet reports before payroll processing.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use the ADP WorkforceNow Payroll platform to assist in preparing payrolls for approximately 500 part-time instructors/liaisons
- Verify Timesheet Data
- Enroll Instructors into ADP based on data from HR and notify instructors of their enrollment and assist employees with troubleshooting ADP access issues
- Maintain accurate payroll system data, home departments and supervisors
- Perform related duties, as required, to support and promote the efficient operation of the Payroll Division, and After School Matters as a whole
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to manage detail-oriented work
- Strong orientation to customer service in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Administrative tasks, including copying, mailing, filing and attention to detail
- Desire to help internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Required Qualifications:
- GED or high school diploma required
- Either some college or 1+ year of office or customer service experience required
Schedule:
- This is a part-time role that will require 24 hours of work per week from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday.
